find the cut frequency.
A peak EQ cuts one band of the loop. Listen for what goes missing, then drag the line to that frequency.

Most mixing moves are cuts. Hearing a missing band is harder than hearing an extra one, because the ear notices what is added before it notices what is gone.
The cut is 12 dB with a Q of 2, anywhere from 40 Hz to 16 kHz. Same rules as the boost: five levels, four lives, and a margin that tightens as you go.
Toggle often: a cut is easier to hear when the band comes back than when it leaves.
250 to 500 Hz: a cut here makes the loop thinner and cleaner.
4 kHz: a cut here makes the loop duller and further away.
