Saturation is everywhere in modern mixes, often where you do not notice it. Hearing a little of it, and not only a lot, keeps a mix warm without turning it to mush.
The drive goes from 0 to 100 percent. The driven version is brought back to the level of the original, so only the colour changes. Within 5 points scores 10, within 10 scores 5.
Low amounts: listen to the top end: it gets grainy before it gets loud.
Mid amounts: the loop gets denser and the drums lose their edges.
High amounts: everything sustains, the quiet parts come up.
